The core of our work is done out on the track. We’ve visited hundreds of circuits around the world, and whilst its nice to visit a new track there is no substitute for knowledge, whether it be knowing where the cars jump the kerbs to which trees to climb for the best access.
Often the best shots are of the unsung heroes doing 24 hour shifts fixing gearboxes, replacing drive shafts or studying the data.
It is important to be able to get these story telling shots without getting in the way of the team members trying to win the race in often cramped conditions.
Images of the team are important for recording the event for a customer or promoting the team and its sponsors.
Whether it be an organised shot like this rather nervous looking bunch sitting on the banking at Monza, or getting a shot of the whole team and the cars with 60 seconds left before the grid assembly.
If you are trying to tell the story of an event for your customer then you need more than close up shots of the car and the garage. All races have their individual characteristics and atmosphere. We know exactly how to capture that moment forever.
This shot was taken very late at night at Spa during the Total 24 Hours.
Detail shots work well in brochures and publications. We have been around the sport long enough to know what details of the cars we can shoot and what would give away important secrets to our customer’s competitors.
We work with many different customers on a race weekend and we know how important discretion is in motorsport.
For the kind of premium automotive brands we work for, the car needs to look good. Photos of the car out on the track winning and mixing it up with the competition are great, but its also essential to have that ‘wow’ shot of the car looking purposeful. These images are especially useful for car launches and pre season promotional material.
In endurance racing especially, it is not just the track where the action happens. A fast pitstop with refuelling, tyre and driver changing can look spectacular – especially late at night.
We have a lot of experience shooting pit stops. We know how to get the action without delaying the stop and at the same time staying safe. Our professional photographers wear fire proof suits and helmets to keep safe.
Teams, manufacturers and media need shots of the drivers, but we often work for the drivers themselves. Often it is an upcoming professional drivers who need the best shots to promote themselves to sponsors. Investment is hard to come by, so its essential to use professional imagery in promotional material.
We also work for many gentleman drivers who like having a memento of their racing as well as promoting their business.
Sponsors invest large amounts of money in motorsport and it is vital that they get as much return on their investment as possible. TV coverage of their branding on a race car is one way to achieve this, but professional photography really makes the branding stand out. The sponsors can use an image like the one on the left to adorn their promotional material and attract new customers.
